The Wishing Trees at Avebury
Original Eldara Art Print
The Wishing Tree at Avebury
This piece is inspired by the ancient Wishing Trees that stand among the great stone circle at Avebury. Their vast trunks are etched with generations of carvings, their branches heavy with ribbons, offerings, and whispered prayers. These sacred guardians hold centuries of human longing, devotion, and remembrance. In this artwork, the Wishing Tree becomes a symbol of connection: between earth and sky, ancestor and seeker, past and present. They invite you to pause and honour the threads of intention tied there, and to add your own silent wish to the countless others carried on the wind.
Created with Intention, Layered with Spirit
Each Eldara print is born from a sacred, intuitive process — created, drawn, and printed in our studio with devotion, presence, and care. The foundation of each piece begins with a richly textured Gelli plate background, formed through slow, meditative layering. We gather seasonal foliage, wildflowers, seed heads, and herbs from our Eldara garden and the surrounding Worcestershire countryside — pressing them gently onto the plate to create intricate, organic impressions that honour nature’s quiet beauty.
Once the botanical layers are complete, we enhance the textures with soft spiritual motifs, using carefully chosen stamps and stencils that echo the image’s intention. Each background carries its own natural tone — subtle colour shifts that reflect the energy and emotion of the piece.
Pen and ink illustrations, drawn by hand, are then printed and transferred onto the surface — merging with the layered textures below to form a unified, soulful composition. The finished piece is then scanned and gently refined, maintaining the rich, textural quality of the original artwork while preparing it for print.
The final artwork bears a distinctive pulled border edge — where the paper lifted from the plate — framed by the clean-cut edge of 300gsm cold-pressed, acid-free, textured watercolour paper, chosen for its timeless feel and strength.
Each print is hand-embossed with the Eldara mark, signed and dated, and released in small, limited editions — to honour the sacred pace of intentional creation.
