The Green Man

Rooted in nature, he stands in quiet presence. Leaves move through his form, not placed but grown, as though the land itself has taken shape and is looking back. Beneath the surface, unseen roots run deep into ancient ground, connecting him to cycles of life, decay and renewal that have always existed.

The Green Man honours the sacred balance between stillness and growth. He is a reflection of nature’s quiet endurance, of what returns again and again, no matter how many times it falls away. Inspired by ancient carvings and the steady rhythm of the natural world, this piece speaks of grounding, reconnection and the quiet strength found in coming back to yourself.

The steady gaze is calm and watchful, a reminder that presence does not need to demand attention. It is felt, steady and deeply connected to the rhythms of the earth. The leaves that form him symbolise life in constant motion, always growing, always changing. There is no separation between the face and the foliage, only a continuous flow between the two.

This artwork carries a grounding, steadying energy. It invites stillness, reflection and a return to the natural pace of life. Many are drawn to this piece during times of overwhelm, transition or disconnection, when a sense of stability and rootedness is needed.

Part of Eldara’s nature-based collection, this work draws on the ancient foliate carvings found in old buildings and sacred spaces. These faces, often hidden in plain sight, remind us that nature has always been present, quietly woven into the structures around us.

Each Eldara print is created through a sacred, intuitive process in our Worcestershire studio with devotion, presence and care. The foundation begins with a richly textured Gelli plate background, formed through slow meditative layering. Botanical forms, leaves and organic elements are pressed and transferred to capture the natural flow of growth and movement. Watercolour washes and intuitive mark-making bring depth and softness before the final pen and ink drawing is carefully layered and refined.

Printed on 300gsm cold pressed acid free watercolour paper, each piece carries a pulled border edge, is hand embossed with the Eldara mark, signed and dated, and released in small heartfelt editions.

The archival inks and fine art watercolour paper are of gallery quality but not waterproof. Keep your print dry and protect it behind glass to preserve its texture and depth of colour.
