Golden Thread – Weaving the Souls Together
This piece was born from a very real moment of connection. After the Mind Body Spirit weekend, I could still feel the energy of everyone I’d spoken with, all those shared stories, all those hearts meeting for a moment. When I sat down to create, this is what came through.
Figures began to appear in the layers, some close, some soft and far away, each carrying a quiet point of light in the centre of the chest. From every heart, a golden thread reached outward. Some lines curved gently, some stretched across the whole piece, some wrapped around others before travelling on. It became a map of how we touch each other’s lives without even realising.
At the centre sits a woman in stillness, drawn with the same fine pen work I use in all my pieces. Her face is calm, her hair carrying strands of gold, and behind her a faint halo of sacred geometry rises like a soft breath. Around her, the other figures shift between the layers, connected by the same living thread.
The background holds the marks of the gelli plate, the imprints of wildflowers, mandalas, fern textures and soft washes of sage, blue and violet. Everything blends into a sense of movement and expansion, as if the energy is gently rising beyond the frame.
This artwork is about remembering that we are all part of something shared. The golden thread is the quiet bond between us, the way compassion moves, the way we hold each other in unseen ways. It is the story of connection, healing and the light that passes from one soul to another.
Created with intention, layered with spirit
Each Eldara artwork begins as a slow and mindful ritual. The background is formed through hand pulled Gelli plate layers, built gradually with colour and texture. Seed heads, grasses and wildflowers from our Worcestershire garden and fields are pressed into the plate to leave delicate, organic imprints that honour the quiet magic of the land. Over this textured ground the imagery is rendered from my original fine pen drawing, where careful stipple and crosshatch bring form, detail and light to life. The illustration merges with the layered background to become one soulful whole.
The final piece is gently refined to preserve every pulled edge, ink mark and subtle colour shift. It is printed on 300gsm cold pressed acid free textured watercolour paper, chosen for its timeless strength and tactile beauty. Each print bears the distinctive pulled border edge where the paper lifted from the plate, a mark of its making. Hand embossed with the Eldara mark, signed and dated, each one is released in small limited editions to honour the sacred pace of intentional creation.
